State Capitol - South Plaza On Thursday, September 20, all across the nation, there will be rallies for racial justice responding to events in Jena, Louisiana, that are gaining national attention. The Oklahoma City rally will take place from 11 am to 1 pm, on the south plaza of the Oklahoma State Capitol according to organizers. This is the time that one of the “Jena 6” (six African-American youths charged with criminal violence) will be sentenced to prison. Oklahoma City's rally is sponsored by the Oklahoma City branch of the NAACP. Attendees of the rally are invited to wear black. Friday, September 21, 2007

Local Citizens Refuse to Abandon SCHIP Rally at State Capitol South Steps For Our Children What: Protest of President Bush’s Veto on SCHIP Where: Oklahoma Capitol, South Plaza Steps Oklahomans Urge Veto Override by Congress Reggie Cervantes, Oklahoma Chapter President of APUHC (American Patients for Universal Health Care), is leading a protest at the South Plaza of the Oklahoma Capitol on Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 at 12 noon. Cervantes, a 9-11 volunteer rescue worker, was featured in the Michael Moore movie, SICKO. She has recently moved to Oklahoma City after not being able to be treated for health issues in New York. Since then, she was able to receive medical care for her children, ages 8 and 10, and herself for PTSD and other ailments she developed after working at the World Trade Center. I believe this is the ONLY bicycling event that is an official Oklahoma Centennial Event. Putting on a bicycling event like this is also something new for Tulsa County Parks and Tulsa City Parks and they are trying very hard to make this event special.
