After a song and brief words, there will be a silent walk for peace,
pausing at the "Jesus Wept" statue for a public reading of the names of Oklahomans fallen in the Iraq conflict, and for children who have
brought pinwheels to insert them in the fence along the west side of
the National Memorial. Return to Episcopal Center
(Walk is less than a mile.)

This is Tulsa's chance to tell Congress its time to get the ball rolling on impeachment. The Tulsa Impeachment Committee will propose that the Tulsa City Council, along with many other cities, pass a resolution for impeachment.

Filmmaker Eugene Jarecki uses the title of a WW2 "support-the-war" film to take an incisive, unflinching look at the modern convention of warfare.

Starting with Dwight Eisenhower's declaration that a responsible government "must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex," Jarecki charges that in the current political climate, the government's ambitions -- stated or otherwise -- in going to war are often starkly different from the best interests of its citizens.

Oklahomans Urge Veto Override by Congress

Reggie Cervantes, Oklahoma Chapter President of APUHC (American Patients for Universal Health Care), is leading a protest at the South Plaza of the Oklahoma Capitol on Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 at 12 noon. Cervantes, a 9-11 volunteer rescue worker, was featured in the Michael Moore movie, SICKO. She has recently moved to Oklahoma City after not being able to be treated for health issues in New York. Since then, she was able to receive medical care for her children, ages 8 and 10, and herself for PTSD and other ailments she developed after working at the World Trade Center.

I believe this is the ONLY bicycling event that is an official Oklahoma Centennial Event. Putting on a bicycling event like this is also something new for Tulsa County Parks and Tulsa City Parks and they are trying very hard to make this event special.

We need a good turn out to encourage them (and others by example) in focusing more on bicyclists and bicycling events.

The Green Party of Oklahoma will have its annual meeting on Sunday, October 21 at 3pm at the Rock Cafe in Stroud.

Anyone interested in the Green Party, its values and positions, is welcome to attend, whether official members of the Green Party or not.

The Oklahoma Greens are currently engaged in a petition drive to ease requirements for placing third-party candidates on the ballot. They are working with the Oklahoma Libertarian and Constitution parties, as well as Oklahoma Independent voters to change what many academics and activists call the strictest ballot access laws in the nation. The annual meeting agenda will include a report on the ballot access campaign, proposed changes to the state party organizing structure, outreach projects and election of officers.
