PassengerRailOK.org volunteers visit Paul's Valley Depot

PassengerRailOk.org went on the road today to Pauls Valley to further push our northbound campaign to Kansas City. We also helped passengers with information prior to boarding the train. We were greeted with smiles from passengers who were glad to have us there. About 15 people boarded the train. Amtrak's conductor was confused as he is used to seeing me in Norman. Fortunately Mr. Nelson Dent, Mr. Don Grissom, and Ms. Donna Jones served as the Norman depot volunteers this morning. They took care of 70 plus passengers. Needless to say, the train was a sellout this morning.

I was disappointed today in how I found the Pauls Valley Oklahoma Amtrak Depot (not the museum next door). First the depot was locked. Second, I looked in a window at the waiting room and noticed a sign on one of the restrooms that said Out of Order with tape across the door. The train was 24 minutes late and I did not have a way to open the depot. There was a sign that said if you need the depot unlocked call the police station. I should have done that when I arrived.

If you live in Pauls Valley please contact me. PassengerRailOk.org would like to start a depot opening team for this wonderful community. Our volunteer efforts in Norman are taking off with the addition of three new volunteers. We will also be in Wichita on July 26th presenting our case, on behalf of the Northern Flyer Alliance, to expand the Heartland Flyer to Kansas City.
