Global Warming Event In Oklahoma City On
Saturday, November 3rd To Ask “Who’s A Leader?”

As Part of Step It Up's Second Historic Event
To Support Plan to Curb Global Warming

Oklahoma City, OK - Step It Up will host another global warming event in Oklahoma City on Saturday, November 3, 2007 to call for leadership on climate change. The event will build on Step It Up's April 14 rally that produced more than 1,400 events, in all 50 states, including one in Oklahoma City, the largest global warming event in U.S. history. The events across the country—held one year before the 2008 election— will show the contrast between the intense concern of Americans and the leadership vacuum in Washington.

State Senator Andrew Rice (D), who is running for U.S. Senate against Senator Jim Inhofe (R) will be among the speakers scheduled for the event. Rice knows that global climate change is real and threatens our way of life. He supports policies that reduce carbon emissions and other pollutants that contribute to global warming. Rice wants to help restore America’s role as a world leader on addressing global climate change.

The event will take place in front of Harding School located at 33rd and North Shartel Avenue from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Sponsors of the event include Central Park Neighborhood Association, Harding Fine Arts Center, Sierra Club Cimarron Group, Sustainable OKC, Community Youth Outreach, Audubon Society of Greater Oklahoma, Oklahoma Food Coop, The Peace House and others. Live music will be provided by The Electric Primadonnas and actions at the event will include speakers, information tables, workshops and gardening.

Participants in the event will call for real leadership on global warming including these key priorities: (1) no new coal plants, (2) 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050, and (3) 5 million new green jobs.
