Jim Goodnow's "Yellow Rose" Bus Destroyed by Suspicious Fire

Update: A fund has been set up for Jim. See end of this post.

Jim Goodnow and his bus, the Yellow Rose, both have suffered a terrible tragedy.

Jim, who was at Camp Casey with Cindy Sheehan in August of 2005, got the Yellow Rose shortly thereafter and has been a fixture at actions around the country ever since. In recent months, Jim has been providing transportation to Iraq Veterans Against the War for their various tours and other activities. Last night, Jim escaped a fire of suspicious origins that destroyed the bus. Luckily Jim is all right.

This message was passed on by Bill Perry, a vet and anti-war activist.

The "Yellow Rose" bus, was totaled by fire, around 9:30 pm, Friday night, 1/11/08

NEED TO LEARN SOME MANNERS

A family members funeral was in December 2007. Everyone knows how stressful and hearbreaking it is to lose a loved one. We all thought how nice it was going and that most of the family attended. One family member works for Pontotoc County D. Richard of Ada, OK. The ones that know him well, was wondering why he was there he isn't very family oreinted. We just let it pass and didn't think anything else about it. D. Richard escorted the cars to the grave site and we thought how thoughtful of him to do this.( It was odd , because usually it is City police IF ANY AT ALL.)At the gave site, everyone was visiting with one another some comforting others..All of sudden every one had a bewilderd look on there face. D. Richard had walked up to another family member right there at the grave site and arrested the family member, a close family member of the deceased, on 5 year old warrant.

Peace House Tulsa finds new home

This summer Peace House Tulsa received sudden news that the owner of the property was renting to another tenant (a much needed grocery for the neighborhood). Thus began a frantic seach for new digs. Tireless Tulsa activist Joni LeViness took the reins and below is a report from her of the good news about the new home for Peace House Tulsa:

Church of the Restoration has agreed unanomously and with Great Enthusiasm, I hear, to allow PH~T to become their tenant at a price that falls within our means of pledges pledged and also allows PH to be a contributing tenant in some meaningful and wonderful ways. We have enough in pledges to carry wifi for the building.

We'll have our own office, our own entrance and use of the sanctuary to be coordinated with COR's wonderful Secretary Vanessa Thomas. Which means we'll STILL have State of the Union Movies, Volunteers willing and able... We'll Still have Tai Chi!

Potlucks for the Promotion of Peace and Community (monthly)

Start: 08/09/2007 - 6:30pm

End: 08/09/2007 - 8:30pm

Timezone: Etc/GMT-5

What is it? : It’s not just another Potluck. It’s an adventure.

Where is it? : 4400 NW Expressway (Park in the south parking lot)

When is it: 08/9/07 at 7:00 p.m.

Who is invited?: This potluck is for anyone who is hungry and wants to talk.

What to bring?: Feel free to cook, feel free to bring a bucket of chicken, feel free to bring a bag of chips, feel free to bring a casserole, just try to bring something. Part of the adventure of building community is eating a meal together.

What should I expect?: We will start gathering at 6:30 and for socializing and we will begin eating at 7:00 p.m. These potlucks exist to create a venue for people to talk about peacemaking and to foster away for people to meet others and to dialogue about what peace and community mean in this strange world.
